What if the Arc de Triomphe not only attracted tourists, but also generated electricity? With the launch of 'Energy Experience', Dassault Systèmes shows how virtual worlds and sustainability reinforce each other in the heart of Paris. The project brings nine iconic Parisian locations to life in augmented reality (AR) and shows how technology can contribute to a clean-energy future.

The Energy Experience experience brings together the virtual and real worlds to showcase innovations in energy consumption, green mobility and food production optimisation. This takes place on and around iconic landmarks like the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysées and other famous tourist attractions in Paris. These are now completely transformed based on solutions inspired by nature.

Audience as active participant

All initiatives around these monuments are promoted through 'street marketing' and also feature a 'challenge' via a web app, which encourages visitors to find each project. Furthermore, project participants can win prizes. In doing so, this project invites the general public to become an active participant in discovering vertical farming, low-carbon last-mile delivery vehicles, sustainable building materials, electricity-generating hydro turbines and other innovations.

For this, Dassault Systèmes is collaborating with CSADI, EEL Energy, Midipile, NetZero, Polytech Nancy, Strong By Form and Urbanloop. Together, they are demonstrating the opportunities and benefits they have to offer for the so-called generative economy. This stems from the convergence of the experience economy and the circular economy.

Global energy consumption is expected to rise until 2050. If we want to be able to meet this demand with sustainable energy solutions, we will have to find a balance between existing and new energy sources, with climate change and biodiversity at the forefront and the Earth's ecosystem not degraded.

Crucial role

Dassault Systèmes, with its 3DEXPERIENCE platform and applications, 3DEXPERIENCE Lab and La Fondation Dassault Systèmes, plays a crucial role in the search for new ways for the market and innovators to shape the clean energy of the future. Virtual twins offer unlimited opportunities to invent, design, simulate, test and optimise solutions, processes and infrastructure even before they are physically created. This can greatly reduce the pressure on the planet.

"We believe in the transformative power of virtual worlds to address real-life challenges. Moreover, we want to make this technology accessible to everyone," says Victoire de Margerie, Vice President, Corporate Equity, Marketing & Communications, Dassault Systèmes. "The Energy Experience project shows how virtual twins enable clean energy innovators to drive human progress with solutions that benefit everyone. This project is not just about an experience; above all, it is about virtual worlds for real life."

Raising awareness

'Energy Experience' will run until 30 April. This experience is dedicated to the themes of energy and nature. It is part of Dassault Systèmes' initiative 'The Only Progress is Human'. This project aims to raise awareness of social and environmental challenges. It also aims to inspire the use of virtual worlds to develop sustainable innovations for healthcare, mobility, urbanisation and water conservation, among others.

About

Dassault Systèmes offers companies and individuals virtual twins that allow them to invent sustainable innovations that harmonise product, nature and life.
