GROHE wants to use 3D printing to start a new design trend. Starting this month, the sanitaryware company will sell two different faucets made by 3D metal printing. This makes GROHE an industry pioneer: with 3D printing, the company is ushering in a new era for interior design. No kitchen or bathroom needs to be the same anymore.

The first 3D-printed faucets, GROHE Atrio Icon 3D and GROHE Allure Brilliant Icon 3D, are available now. The faucets are made of brass and have a slim design. The ultra-thin design of the GROHE Atrio Icon 3D and the concave interior in the familiar design of GROHE Allure Brilliant make the water flow look like an optical illusion. The printer takes several days to produce the taps.

Personalisation through innovation

GROHE is using the new technology to meet consumers' growing need for designing kitchens and bathrooms according to their own individual tastes. Personalisation and innovation are central to this and go hand in hand. With the introduction of 3D printing, GROHE takes product design and the use of water to the next level. Michael Seum, Vice President Design at GROHE, says: "At GROHE, we believe that something completely new needs a bold vision. What is or is not possible becomes a matter of perspective. With 3D, we are opening up a completely new way of thinking about product design in the future. We are overcoming boundaries by using 3D metal printing to create products that seem impossible at first glance. This production method allows us to design faucets in small quantities according to our customers' wishes and personal tastes. In this way, we no longer place limits on individual personalisation."

The limited editions of the GROHE Icon 3D and GROHE Allure Brilliant Icon 3D are available on request.
