GrapheneCA introduces the Mobile Graphene Container System. This system allows companies to produce graphene in-house at any desired location.
Graphene is a material with special properties. For example, the material is 200 times stronger than steel, while being flexible and thin at the same time. Graphene also has high thermal and electrical conductivity. These properties make the material suitable for a variety of applications. These include electronics such as touchscreens and batteries. However, the material also has medical applications. For instance, graphene can be used to transport medication through the body.
Low production capacity and high volume
According to GrapheneCA, an obstacle to the use of graphene includes the relatively low available production capacity. The company also points to the high volume of graphene, which poses logistical challenges. With the Mobile Graphene Container System, the company is responding to this.
The Mobile Graphene Container System is a graphene production system that is fully incorporated into a truck trailer, making it mobile. This makes it possible to produce graphene at any location and under any weather conditions. To use the Mobile Graphene Container System, users only need two things:
- An energy source such as electricity, diesel or biodiesel
- A water supply
More flexibility
According to GrapheneCA, the production system offers customers several advantages. For example, they are no longer dependent for the production of graphene
on third parties such as a production partner or logistics company. This offers more flexibility and enables faster switching, e.g. by being able to start production of a batch of graphene immediately after an order comes in. Customers also have more control over the quality of the graphene produced and the production costs.
With the Mobile Graphene Container System, the US company targets two audiences: industrial manufacturing and the high-tech industry. For instance, the system can be used by industry to produce cement, coatings, epoxy resin and composite materials, among others. In the high-tech industry, GrapheneCA focuses its system on the production of sensors, water filtration systems, electronics, heat applications and energy storage, among others.
Up to 12 tonnes of graphene paste per month
The company can supply production systems for both target groups. For industrial-scale production, the company supplies a Mobile Graphene Container System with a production capacity of up to 12 tonnes of graphene paste or 4 tonnes of graphene powder per month. The system consists of modules from 6 to 12 metres long, is scalable and can therefore be tailored to customer requirements. For the high-tech industry, GrapheneCA supplies a smaller variant of this system, which consists of a single container 12 metres long. This system offers a production capacity from 250kg per month, with a maximum of 1 tonne of graphene powder per month. The system can produce both graphene and its derivative graphene oxide.
