Solarge receives over 5.2 million euros from the Growth Fund SolarNL. The company aims to use this to accelerate the development of its circular solar panels.

Weert-based Solarge focuses on the production of circular solar panels, with which it wants to promote a sustainable energy transition. Solarge has been operating since 2018. It collaborates with several parties, including SABIC, TNO and research organisation Solliance.

Longer life and fully recyclable

The Weert-based company's solar panels are manufactured from fibre-reinforced polymers and specially developed materials, among others, which contribute to the light weight of the solar panels. In addition, the solar panels are fully recyclable and designed with a modular approach.

In practice, this means that the solar panels are constructed from fully separable layers, so that all parts can be disassembled, reused and/or replaced. The modular approach contributes to a longer lifespan and a smaller ecological impact.

Customised solar roofs and integrated solutions

Besides the further development of existing panels, the company also focuses on new solutions, including customised solar roofs, integrated roof solutions and solar panels integrated directly into vehicles. In this way, the company aims to facilitate the generation of renewable energy where it is used.

With the more than EUR 5.2 million in funding Solarge now receives, the company can scale up production of its circular solar panels and also enter international markets. The demand for lightweight, efficient and sustainable solar panels is growing worldwide, and these funds will allow the company to meet that need faster. Cooperation with partners from the construction and automotive industries plays an important role in this.

Research and development

In addition, part of the funding will be used for research and development and further digitalisation of production processes. Solarge continues to work on solar panels that are not only more efficient but also produced more sustainably. In doing so, the company aims to contribute to wider access to sustainable energy solutions and support customers in achieving their sustainability goals.

Solarge celebrated a world first together with SABIC and ENGIE as recently as October. SABIC then commissioned the world's largest solar installation with fully recyclable materials at its site in Genk, Belgium. The installation consists of 4,600 solar panels developed by Solarge in collaboration with SABIC. The panels were produced by Solarge at its plant in Weert.
