Dubai already has the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and now it has been announced that soon the world's tallest residential skyscraper will also rise in Dubai. The high-rise, currently under construction in the city's Marina district, will have 122 floors and house only 251 ultra-luxury residences.
Tallest residential tower
The Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina will reach a height of 517 metres, making it much taller than the current tallest skyscraper in the world, the Central Park Tower in New York City. That tower has a maximum height of 474 metres and houses an even smaller number of 179 homes. The new development has been designed by Woods Bagot and WSP Middle East. Judging by the first images released, it will take the form of an elegant, rounded glass tower that tapers to a point at the top and features terraces and balconies.
As the name suggests, Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina is being built in collaboration with Six Senses, a boutique hotel and resort company. The interior will consist of a mix of "standard residences" with up to four bedrooms and so-called "sky mansions" spread over three floors with an area of about 1,310 m² and up to five bedrooms.
Lavishly furnished
The interior will be provided by Mitchell & Eades and will include high-end appliances and materials as well as generous glazing for stunning views of Dubai's Marina district. Amenities are fitting for the execution, including state-of-the-art fitness, health and wellness facilities. Notable amenities include cardio, strength and functional fitness rooms, virtual cycling and boxing studios, an infinity pool, ice baths, salt room, Finnish and infrared saunas, sound healing space, massage suites, indoor and outdoor cinemas and a clinic with a wide range of services to promote revitalisation.
Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina was originally designed as the Pentominium Tower in 2007. However, work stalled due to the global financial crisis that began the following year. Select Group recently bought the unfinished building for $100 million. The company says it is currently 25% finished and will be completed by the end of 2028.
