The Valo Hyperfoil is a new ultra-class electric personal watercraft. This two-seater jet ski on extendable hydrofoils transcends choppy waters and goes faster than any other electric or hydrofoil craft.

The Valo Hyperfoil does not compete on horsepower with other high-performance jet skis. Where some jet skis boast more than 300 hp, the Valo has only 80 kW, or 108 hp. On the other hand, the Valo does not have to push its entire hull through the water, as it rises a metre above the surface on retractable hydrofoils. Complex control software is used for stabilisation.

50 years of jet skis

Propulsion is via a five-bladed electric propeller on the rear wing. This achieves top speeds of up to 50 knots (93 km/h). According to developer Boundary Layer Technologies, this makes it the world's fastest electric hydrofoil.

It has now been 50 years since the first jet ski hit the market. And according to Boundary Layer Technologies, it was high time for a major upgrade. All the technology the company developed for container ships and ferries is now being used for a new recreational product. The team the company works with previously developed hydrofoils for the America's Cup. The first prototype will soon be ready for sea trials. The first ones with an expected price of $59,000 will be delivered in mid-2023.
