Aston Martin is known to many as the ultimate and super-luxurious sports car - blazing fast and beautifully finished. But soon we may be able to enjoy the brand underwater too. Last, the company joined hands with Triton Submarines to develop the submarine with the performance and styling of the famous sports car. The design phase recently gave way to the production phase.
Aston Martin and Triton have recently been working hard on the right balance and hydrodynamics as well as the style and luxurious interior. The result is a submarine that combines the solid characteristics of Triton with the performance and finesse that Aston Martin is known for.
One thing is certain: the submarine will never reach the speeds that Aston Martin's famous cars are capable of. But with a top speed slightly above 5 knots (9.2 km/hour), the craft is still considerably faster that the 3 knots top speed of other three-seater Triton submarines. Moreover, the companies have stated that the submarine accelerates four times faster than any other submarine of this class in the Triton programme, such as the 3300/3. The maximum diving depth is 500 m. What no details have yet been released about is the powertrain.
The acrylic canopy conceals an interior that may bear the Aston Martin name. Hand-stitched leather seats for the captain and two passengers are complemented by luxurious carbon-fibre trim. The personalisation service known from the cars, 'Q by Aston Martin', will also provide customisation for buyers of this underwater craft.
