Portuguese creative agency Ojeam Studio has developed a 3D printer that runs on water power. The unique 3D printer was made especially for a small village by a river.
The creators of the so-called 360º Under Water project were inspired by the Guadiana River; an important access route for the village of Mértola. A ceramic 3D printer was developed that uses a water mill to drive both a rotating potter's wheel and an extruder that then prints ceramic containers.
The agency behind the 3D printer says it applies two things that are radically changing the world: renewable energy and 3D printing. 'Moreover, this project is an approach to the evolution of technology and what opportunities that gives to make something even faster. With this, we want to show that sometimes you have to take a step back to enjoy the process of creating new things.'
This video shows the printer in action.
