During the first Evening of the Manufacturing Industry, which took place in Jaarbeurs Utrecht on 7 March, various companies from the manufacturing industry were presented with Awards. The evening festively put the spotlight on companies that together make up an important part of the Dutch manufacturing industry. The connectedness of the various sectors was expressed in the programme in which FPT-VIMAG, Koninklijke Metaalunie and NRK, in collaboration with Jaarbeurs, jointly honoured the winners of various Awards.
The following Awards were presented:
Smart Manufacturing Award 2018
Koninklijke Metaalunie provides an annual award to a Metaalunie member that distinguishes itself positively with a topical theme. This year's theme was 'Smart Manufacturing', or smart manufacturing. From the nine district winners chosen last December, three nominated companies were first chosen during the Evening of the Manufacturing Industry, after which the Award winner was crowned.
Winner of the Smart Manufacturing Award 2018 is Aebi Schmidt Nederland bv.
TechniShow Innovation Awards 2018
FPT-VIMAG presented the TechniShow Innovation Awards during the evening. With these, FPT-VIMAG rewards those innovations that are of course new and distinctive, but also have economic and/or social impact. The TechniShow Innovation Award is for companies participating in TechniShow 2018 that have developed an innovative or new product or an updated approach in terms of process, materials and/or techniques. The innovation must lead to a significant change in economic and/or social terms. The renewed Awards were presented in several categories.

- Winner of the TechniShow Award Commercial Innovation is Kuunders Technoworks
- Winner of the TechniShow Award Made in the Benelux is Style CNC Machines

Sustainable Products Awards
The NRK presented the Sustainable Products Awards. It was the first edition of these Awards, which were presented in three categories. These are innovations that contribute to sustainability, reducing CO2 emissions, stimulating the circular economy or, for example, to people's safety and comfort.
- Winner in the Building/Infrastructure category is Lankhorst Engineerd Products
- Winner in the category Construction/B2B is Cumapol Emmen
- Winner in the Consumer Production category is Kras Recycling
With the presentation of the various awards, manufacturing industry companies were put in the spotlight and showed how innovative, successful and important they are to the industry. This also made the Manufacturing Industry Evening on 7 March a gauge of the Dutch economy.
