Carrier recently introduced a comprehensive new line of high and very high temperature heat pumps intended for industrial, commercial and public buildings and for district heating. These heat pumps help customers meet their decarbonisation targets.
Designed to reduce both CO2 emissions and energy costs, the new line consists of
AquaForce® and AquaSnap® air- and water-cooled heat pumps with capacities ranging from 30 to 735 kW and water temperatures from 82 to 130°C that use refrigerants based on
fluorocarbon-based refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP). The high temperatures allow the heat pumps to replace boilers that use fossil fuels in heating applications such as flats and residential areas, commercial buildings, food production, industrial dryers, biogas production and chemical plants. These innovative products support Carrier's 2030 Environment, Social Policy and Governance (ESG) targets to reduce its customers' carbon footprint by more than 1 gigatonnes.
The heat pumps not only harness heat from ambient air and the ground, but also heat that is lost and comes from many different sources, such as data centres, leisure facilities, hotels and restaurants, process water, flue gases and sewage systems. The heat thus captured is then used for comfort heating and hot water production in large buildings and facilities. Heat pumps can also be used in industrial applications and in district and local heating networks that require high or very high temperatures.
"The expansion of the AquaForce and AquaSnap range is an essential step in our commitment to support the European Green Deal and help decarbonise Europe," said Raffaele D'Alvise, Head of Marketing and Communications, Europe Commercial HVAC, Carrier. "These heat pumps, with their high temperatures, performance, reliability and efficiency, are an excellent solution for customers who want to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future, by replacing fossil-fuel generators or integrating the heat pumps into hybrid systems."
The units are ready to connect to Abound, Carrier's digital cloud-based platform for real-time, intelligent and results-oriented results that makes buildings more efficient and responsive. For minimal operating costs, Carrier's BluEdge® service options can be chosen to keep heat pumps running at peak performance and efficiency throughout their lifecycle. This leads to predictive maintenance instead of preventive maintenance, saving both time and money.
