More than half (58%) of decision-makers at Dutch organisations would prefer employees to return to work entirely in the office. This is according to recent research by digital services company Ricoh. This contrasts sharply with the wishes of employees, 73% of whom say they see most potential in a hybrid form of work.
The survey was conducted by Opinium and analysed by the UK-based Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR). The survey involved 1,000 employees and 250 decision-makers from Dutch organisations.
Preferences differ
The survey reveals that decision-makers and employees have different preferences when it comes to hybrid working. If organisations ignore the desire for hybrid working, they risk being less attractive as an employer to existing and new employees.
Hybrid working opportunity for growth
Remarkably, the same decision-makers in the survey indicate that their employees are on average 3% more productive in a hybrid setting. Hybrid working is therefore precisely an opportunity for growth.
35% less staff turnover with hybrid working
The ability to work flexibly to maintain a good work-life balance contributes to employee well-being and satisfaction. For instance, recent research shows that hybrid working has a positive impact on retaining and attracting talent. Whereby staff turnover is 35% lower in organisations where employees work hybrid.
Greater job satisfaction and enjoyment
Huib Kolen, Manager Product Marketing & Programs at Ricoh comments, "It's time for decision-makers to meet the needs of employees. Because organisations that work flexibly increase employee job satisfaction and job satisfaction. And because employees are more productive, this also translates into financial benefits. So it's good for your employees as well as your organisation."
Creativity and knowledge sharing
Coal continues: "Of course, the office remains essential to collaborate and bond with each other and the culture of the organisation. In this respect, it is important that the spaces fit in with this. Think of a design that stimulates creativity and knowledge sharing. With tools and technology that enable smooth communication and efficient remote collaboration. It is up to organisations to facilitate this. Because ignoring the wishes and needs of employees in a tight labour market is simply not an option."
