Robotics company Avular will move into Philips' former glass laboratory at Strijp-T in Eindhoven next year. The company wants the move to support its growth ambitions.

Avular focuses on the production of so-called mobile robots and drones, and supplies related software. The company is thus targeting parties that want to market their own mobile robots and drones. They can use Avular's offering to design their own systems, customising the mobile robots and drones. Avular can also produce customised mobile drones and robots for customers. In doing so, it targets parties that do not have the necessary resources to do so themselves.

Modular mobile drone

It offers modular solutions for this purpose. For example, under the name 'Autopilot: The Origin One', the company supplies a modular mobile robot. With this, Avular targets robot integrators, engineers and scientists. The robots are suitable for a wide range of applications. For instance, they can be used in environments ranging from industrial sites to rugged outdoor locations, such as construction sites.

The Origin One includes integrated sensors and an Autopilot system from Avular, which consists of out-of-the-box hardware and software to realise an autonomous robotic system. The robot can autonomously and safely navigate to a desired location under dynamic and complex conditions. This in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Vertex One

Vertex One is the company's modular drone. These drones have been in availability for some time and have now been used in various applications. Think of inspecting industrial chimneys, but also checking greenhouses. Avular's drones have also been used in factories and construction sites. Like The Origin One, the Vertex One can be used for a wide range of applications, with the drone being customisable as required.

The drones are built to collect data autonomously. Avular supplies the Vertex One including autonomy and various sensors needed to perform inspections. The drones are customisable and equipped with the Nvidia Jetson Orin NX AI system. The Vertex One also features a real-time flight controller system developed by Avular.

Making existing machines autonomous

Avular also provides a solution that allows companies to convert existing machines into robots: Avular Autopilots. This is an integrated solution that Avular says includes everything companies need to convert their existing machines into autonomous systems. Autopilots includes all the components companies need for this, including sensors, computing power and software.

The Eindhoven-based company is thus targeting a wide range of applications. Focus areas include agriculture, construction, utilities and industry. Among other things, the robots can safely navigate indoor and outdoor locations, even if dynamic objects and obstacles are present here. Human intervention is not required, according to the company.

Relocation to Eindhoven

Avular will move into Philips' former glass laboratory in Eindhoven in autumn 2023. The location will be 6,500 m2 in size, providing space for around 300 employees. The premises will also accommodate more than 250 visitors and include a large auditorium.

The location will have extensive possibilities for testing mobile robots and drones. This includes an extensive 1,800 m3 test cage for testing drones. Both indoor and outdoor locations are also available for testing robots.

The move is part of Avular's ambition to have one million Avular-based robots on the market by 2030. The company's new headquarters should provide the right infrastructure to further scale up operations and be able to meet market demand.
