Industry 4.0 is a reality and Epson, the global leader in SCARA robots and supplier of automation solutions since 1980, is ready as a frontrunner to lead this change. Automation is reaching further and further and many new, innovative applications are being developed for robots. These are revolutionising manufacturing and other sectors and can potentially greatly improve the quality of our working lives.
The competition
Epson is putting our latest technology in the hands of the future: universities, colleges and research institutions across the EMEAR region. Why education and research institutions? To drive the growth, development and competitiveness of industry and automation. "Skills and creativity are at the heart of innovation. Epson knows how badly it needs to support talent and skills development. Nearly 50 per cent of the world's population is now made up of millennials and they face a world that works radically differently from today. We know that young people have the potential. Our competition is therefore aimed at putting the technology of the future in their hands," says Volker Spanier, head of robotics solutions at Epson Europe.
The number of industrial robots implemented worldwide is expected to increase to 2.6 million devices by 2019. Mainly in Central and Eastern Europe, the use of robots is expected to increase 20% per year over the next two years. After China, this is the highest growth rate worldwide.
With this growth, robotics is central to the future of manufacturing, healthcare and a host of other sectors. Robots can also help with training, reducing waste and cutting energy consumption. Epson is offering young people in EMEAR the opportunity to create a better world with robots.
