Voxan Motors, part of the Venturi Group, presents the Wattman. This electric motorbike is designed to become the fastest motorbike in the world. The vehicle is expected to break a top speed of 330km/h.
The Wattman is based on a Voxan Motors electric motorbike for public roads published in 2013. Using the Wattman, the Monaco-based electric motorbike manufacturer plans to hold a record attempt in July 2021. This will take place on the Salar de Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia. The vehicle will be ridden that day by Max Biaggi, two-time World Superbike Championship winner and four-time 250cc class winner.
367hp
The electric motorbike produces a total power output of 367hp, which should be enough to reach a top speed of over 329 km/h. The electric motor is powered from a lithium-ion battery. The vehicle weighs 300kg, of which 140kg is accounted for by the battery.
The manufacturer aims to break the speed record in the category of electric motorbikes that are in contact with the road, powered by one wheel, partially streamlined and weigh less than 300kg. The current record in this category is held by Ryuji Tsuruta, who set a speed record of 329.085 km/h in 2019 using a Mobitec EV-02A.
Venturi Group
Voxan Motors is part of Venturi Group, which also includes electric car manufacturer Venturi. This company previously developed the VVB-3, an electric vehicle that set a world record on the Bonneville salt flats in the US on 19 September 2016. This vehicle is nicknamed Bucketeye Bullet 3, where the VVB-3 achieved a top speed of 549 km/h. The vehicle was driven by Roger Schroer, test driver at the US Transportation Research Center Inc.
With the Bucketeye Bullet 3, the company broke the previous speed record of 495 km/h, which was also set with a Venturi. Back then, it was the VVB-2.5, the predecessor of the VVB-3 nicknamed the Bucketeye Bullet.
