For just under a decade, the French company Iguana Yachts has been building some of the most interesting amphibious boats in the world – sleek, modern vessels that are just as at home on the water as they are on rocky, muddy or sandy shores. The company recently announced the Day Limo: a ‘passenger limousine’ for 12 people, designed for use both on land and at sea. Thanks to its convertible top, passengers remain well protected in heavy rain or bright sunshine.
At 9.2 metres, the Day Limo is similar to a seven-seat Iguana limousine. It has a retractable (hard) roof that protects passengers in bad weather and provides outdoor thrills in nicer weather.
The Day Limo accommodates five additional passengers by placing two sofas facing each other instead of individual seats. Behind each sofa hides a cabrio-style canopy on either side that can be pulled over the head and fastened together in the middle. This canopy protects not only from precipitation, but also from splashing water on the side of the Day Limo. A beautiful way to shuttle guests to and from a party, wedding or other formal event on a super yacht.
Another advantage of the fully retractable double-hooded roof system is boat height, which is now limited to 1.75 metres. This allows the Day Limo to be placed even in compact 'garages' aboard superyachts.
The Day Limo features under-deck storage drawers for shoes and smaller items and a luggage compartment for up to six suitcases under the foredeck. A neatly concealed fridge provides space for refreshment.
According to Iguana, the Day Limo can be powered by diesel, gas or electric engines between 300 and 600 hp. The boat is capable of reaching speeds of 7 km/h on land. On water, the maximum speed is 40 knots.
What the price of the Day Limo will be is not yet known. However, we can already see a short video of one of Iguana's showpieces here.
