Construction has begun on a landmark skyscraper in Miami. The residential tower is characterised by a facade that appears sculpted. The skyscraper features windows with integrated solar panels to reduce dependence on electricity grid.
Since the solar cells are integrated into the glass, the effective lifetime of the panels can be equal to that of the window itself, according to ACPV Architects. A total of 500 photovoltaically integrated windows will be installed along the west façade. Together, these form a 'Solar Backbone' of almost 1,850 square metres of energy-producing glass. This can produce up to 170 MWh of clean energy annually.
The skyscraper will house 189 luxury flats, each with its own foyer, terrace areas and outdoor kitchens. The flats themselves feature high ceilings and Italian kitchens; the finishes are high-end. Prices have not yet been announced, but it is expected that they will certainly not go away for 'starter prices'. For that money, of course, there are also many amenities, such as a rooftop pool, multiple lounges, offices, a cinema, a gym and much more.
