KSB has introduced a metering computer for pumping systems under the designation BOATRONIC 100 MOD. The new measuring computer was developed in particular to comply with the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. This sets requirements for the use of energy-efficient components in building automation to support economical and reliable operation.
Meeting legal requirements in an economical and compact way
The BOATRONIC 100 MOD offers the possibility to meet legal requirements in an economical and compact way. The new measuring computer turns the BOA-Control IMS control valve into an energy monitoring system for modern heating and cooling systems. No additional measurement systems are required for its implementation.
The monitoring of flow direction, volume flow, supply and return temperature as well as power and heat output takes place directly at the valve. The main area of application is the monitoring and hydraulic balancing of heating systems, cooling circuits and other applications with flow or temperature measurement.
The integrated ultrasonic flow measurement is based on the principle of the transit time of the ultrasonic wave. As a result, it records actual flow values quickly and reliably, without inputting a valve position. Thanks to innovative ultrasonic sensors that do not come into contact with the pumped medium, the measuring system is leakage-free and insensitive to scale and contaminants.
Two additional temperature sensors
The new measuring computers also have two additional temperature sensors for the supply and return. This allows the supply and return temperatures as well as power and heat output to be recorded. Additional diagnostic functions such as automatic indication of flow direction increase operational reliability. Integration into the building automation system is possible via the two analogue interfaces and Modbus interface. Thus, all process parameters are always available in the higher-level management system. Plant and process transparency are thus significantly increased. Commissioning and measurement are easy to carry out thanks to an intuitively operated app (KSB Flow Manager).
The standard installation length of BOA-Control IMS EN 558/1 provides the user with maximum application flexibility. Thanks to its easy interchangeability, the valve is particularly suitable for implementing monitoring solutions as part of the energy renovation of existing plants.
A further advantage of the BOA-Control IMS is its wide area of application from nominal diameters DN15 to DN 350 at flow rates up to 4 m/s. Both water in heat transfer systems and water-glycol mixtures in cooling systems can be controlled. The measuring system integrated in the valve and the new measuring computer BOATRONIC 100 MOD make expensive measuring systems such as magnetic-inductive flow sensors unnecessary.
Optimised digital product datasets for common programs and databases are available for digital design (BIM). An electrostatically plastic-coated EKB variant can be used in drinking water applications as well as in other oil-free cooling circuits.
