10 hours and 39 minutes. That's the time we spend on average behind the screens of our computers and smartphones. That also has adverse consequences: poor sleep and damage to the eyes. A Canadian company has found something to that. It has developed 'temperature goggles' that are supposed to give the eyes a rest after all that screen time.

The kind of 'temperature goggles' have been designed by the company Umay Care. The makers claim that using the glasses gives the eyes a rest after being exposed to screens for a long time.
On average, we spend about 10 hours behind a screen. Several studies have already shown that this is detrimental not only to mental health and quality of sleep but also to the eyes.

Heat therapy

A lot of testing is currently going on with prototypes. These can cool at 16-20 degrees and heat up to 40-45 degrees. The makers call the technique Meditative Heat. It is based on years of research into heat therapy.

The glasses are portable, lightweight and come with a USB charger. In addition, the glasses vibrate lightly which should make the user breathe more calmly. The Umay glasses are likely to be launched in the US and Europe later this year. The glasses will probably cost around 250 euros. You can already sign up for the waiting list via the website.

Ahead of CES 2019, Umay and the glasses were already named 'CES Innovation Awards Honoree' in the 'Tech for a better world' category.
