Denmark's Sarvo Marine combines power, speed and dazzling aesthetics in the Sarvo 37. This pleasure craft with shimmering aluminium hull is propelled by four electric motors. At a maximum speed of 70 knots, the Sarvo 37 skims across the water like a shiny metal pojectile. At normal speeds, the boat has a range of 100 nautical miles; recharging takes no more than an hour.
Understated design
Measuring 37 feet (11.3 m) long, the Sarvo 37 is the epitome of Scandinavian design. The specially developed aluminium hull consists of 60 per cent recycled aluminium that is low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant. The cool look of the aluminium is tempered by the warm appearance of synthetic wood. The choice of synthetic wood was made deliberately to do justice to the boat's eco-friendly design. The synthetic mix consists of 80 per cent recycled material, including plastic extracted from the ocean. Buyers can choose from various teak shades, and the deck comes paired with weather-resistant synthetic leather upholstery on the circular sofa and captain's chair. Below deck, the cabin features a custom-made double bed with a built-in induction charger for mobile devices. The ship does not have space for a full galley, but it does have a coffee station and a toilet room.
Powerful propulsion
To minimise the impact on the 350 kWh battery pack, the prow is designed in a razor-shaped V-shape. The electric powertrain was designed by Sarvo's CTO Jonas Voss, who previously worked on propulsion at Koenigsegg Automotive. The 350 kWh battery is combined with a lightweight, compact electric drive train. The battery pack is thereby positioned so that its weight contributes to better balance and handling on the water. The electric motor delivers a maximum of 1,280 hp. For emergencies, an emergency battery can be connected manually.
One-hour charging time is achieved with a 350 kWh Nerve Smart charging system. Lower power chargers require longer connections, ranging from 5.5 hours with a 60 kW charger, to 15 hours with a 400 V shore power connection, to 47 hours with a 230 V socket.
