The municipality of Utrecht recently signed a contract for the cleaning robot from UT start-up KITE ROBOTICS. This small robot will initially be used for cleaning the canopy of the stairs of the Utrecht CS station hall.
The municipality of Utrecht recently signed a contract for the cleaning robot from UT start-up KITE Robotics. It specifically involves cleaning the canopy of the stairs from the Station Hall of Utrecht CS to the new tram track. At an early stage, the municipality of Utrecht started looking for the most efficient maner of maintenance. "Simple automatic cleaning with the cleaning robot gives relief during the operation of the building."
Alexander Schütte, Utrecht municipality: "Sustainability, efficiency and safety, are important considerations for us when making system choices. Especially the poor accessibility of the canopy and the cost savings we realise in the operational phase were decisive for us in choosing the cleaning robot. It is also easier to increase the cleaning frequency. That means a cleaner environment for passengers."
Smart buildings
It was Stefan Spanjer who came up with the idea for the robot during his studies. "I was studying mechanical engineering/mechatronics at UT when the idea was born," says the director of KITE Robotics: "I was convinced even then that robotics would be the future for smart buildings. We are happy that the municipality of Utrecht chose the robot. The robot creates safer conditions and cleaner buildings, improving living and working conditions for everyone."
