Anyone following the discussions around delivery services will not be surprised to learn that there are numerous initiatives to automate the delivery of goods as much as possible. Consequently, the number of parties working on unmanned vehicles seems to be increasing every month. And there is yet another new initiative: the Nuro, an unmanned delivery van that simply uses public roads like any other delivery van.
Nuro is behind some resounding name of engineers from Google, Apple, Uber, Tesla and GM. Although the fine details have not yet been disclosed, it is clear that the delivery van is fully autonomous. It is made of ultra-light materials is half the width of a peson car and is particularly intended for use in cities and neighbourhoods. As such, you won't find it on the motorway.
Goods or groceries are loaded at one point and then driven to the recipient at another location. The video below shows how the Nuro does its job.
